Submotion Orchestra - Finest Hour

Ranking Records, 2011

Sounds like a jazzier, dubbier Portishead.

"Submotion Orchestra is a live 7-piece project from Leeds, incorporating deep bass-driven grooves and dense textures in their progressive live dubstep sound."

Vieo Abiungo - And The World Is Still Yawning

Lost Tribe Sound, 2011

Mix of neo-classical/chamber music, world music, experimental folk and post-rock. I find it strangely compelling and beautiful. If you dig stuff like Rachel's, Gentlemen Losers, Clogs, Sir Richard Bishop and Balmorhea....

"William Ryan Fritch is a multi-instrumentalist in the truest sense of the word. Not only does he play more than one instrument, but his talents are not restricted to one instrumental family, nor to one genre, nor even to one broad cultural tradition. And he shows no favouritism in his compositional employment of all this, at ease with melodic and percussive, modern and ancient, east and west." - Matt Gilley, The Silent Ballet

Priestbird - Beachcombers

self-released, 2011

I really loved their last album (2007's In Your Time). I posted it, bought it and still listen to it.

Four years later they re-emerge with a more mellowed, folky sound. I miss the dark tension and heavier parts of their last album, though they still sound like Priestbird.

You can download the album from their site! (donate if u can)

Tree Of Sores - Tree Of Sores

Witch Hunter Records, 2011

"Leeds 3 piece, taking influences from the doomy atmospherics of Neurosis, an underbelly of crust care of Amebix, and an air of recklessness favoured by the likes of Eyehategod.

The band create a vibe that is heavy, dark and ambient, with tortured male/female vocals, and a mission to take you to a frightening place." - Witch Hunter Records
