Led by the beautiful, sultry voice of singer-songwriter, multi-instrumentalist, composer, Dana Schechter this is slow moving lounge mixed with classical/sountrack, and some trip-hop as well. "Last Sight of Land features a 25-piece string section, a whirlwind of grand pianos, vintage electronics, delicate melodic percussion, a mammoth bass section, keyboards, guitars, lap steels, and sweeping vocal choirs."
Label/Date: Tuition, 2007
Genre: cinematic pop/lounge

Very raw early/demo material that shows good potential, especially in the epic 'We Will Live Forever' where the raw, noisy sound adds to the song.

Founder, guitarist and main composer with Silver Ray. This disc is very cinematic like Silver Ray but more dense with a full string orchestra (Shadow of Love Orchestra), and it's also very upbeat.
Genre: symphonic, cinematic rock

"In an alternative galaxy, where the orbits of Hip-Hop, Funk, Jazz, Psychedelic, Electronic, Avante-Garde and Ethnic music all revolve around "The One" - that’s where you might find The Heliocentrics. A listen to a song or two reveals no small influence from the funk universe of James Brown. But there's also the disorienting asymmetry of Sun Ra's music. The cinematic scope of Ennio Morricone. The sublime fusion of David Axelrod. But the Heliocentrics' music isn't retro. It's brand new. And it's timeless."

"Many of you have been waiting for sound, and we are sorry for the silence. We needed to be alone, without the hustle and bustle of the living. We are uncomfortable with the world, the industry and our place. We have been working, sluggishly, well aware we could end up with nothing. Nonetheless we believe we have succeeded in giving our fears some kind of form. SHADOWS OF THE SUN, our 7th full-length album, is finished and will be released October 1st. We feel it is our most personal record to date. Low-key, dark, and tragic. As we are."

Title track is an updated and slightly re-titled version of a "Mammoth" from the band's debut EP. The b-side "End of Seasons" by Prefuse 73 is a remix/mashup of sorts combining the un-titled track from FIOT and "Aurora Borealis" from Australasia.
