Bongripper - Hate Ashbury
Not as good a Hippie Killer which was more epic and psychedelic. This is darker, slower and heavier with more experimental drone/ambient. Their sound is absolutely crushing!

Rhys Chatham & His Guitar Trio All-Stars - Guitar Trio Is My Life!

Guitar Trio is a minimalist composition/improvisation for bass, drums and 6 or more guitars playing a single chord. This 3 disc live set has recordings from 8 cities with members of Sonic Youth, Tortoise, Godspeed You! Black Emperor/A Silver Mt. Zion, Hüsker Dü, Fog, Final Fantasy, and more joining in at various stops. Most of the performances were around twenty minutes in length, and the two 'halves' of Guitar Trio are different only by the way the drummer fills out the performance (on Part 1, the drummer only uses the hi hat, whereas on Part 2, the drummer uses the entire kit). They start with a single guitar strumming and each guitar eventually joins in til you have a huge, driving, hypnotic sound. Who'd have thought minimalist experimental songs from a 55-year-old Parisian composer could fucking rock!

Té - Soul and Senses Aligned Create the Greatest Music
Quite a drop from being my number one band in 2006. This album lacks the dynamic range of previous releases (tracks 5,6+7 from the green album is the band's peak), but they're still a great, passionate band well worth following. PS: their live DVD is incredible
